Sure, you expect a band's practice space to be somewhat rank and grimy—you know, all that flailing about and sweating and smashing instruments and typical rock whatnot—but nothing prepared me for the toxic sewage pipes, stagnant air and all-around vileness of ModRocket's home away from home. These ladies are only seventeen, but the giant gaping holes I witnessed at their East Village practice space tell an entirely different story. They are tough. Tougher than me, for sure, and probably tougher than a lot of those prissy hairdo rock guys you see these days. The girls of ModRocket made me feel like I was a teenager again, but this time with friends. I even dared them to a cookie-eating contest, which was dumb, because, I mean, teenage girls can really eat themselves some cookies, huh?
