Description:

To see more: www.http://www.heavymetalinbaghdad.com/ Heavy Metal in Baghdad is a feature film documentary that follows the Iraqi heavy metal band Acrassicauda from the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003 to the present day. Playing heavy metal in a Muslim country has always been a difficult (if not impossible) proposition but after Saddam's regime was toppled, there was a brief moment for the band in which real freedom seemed possible. That hope was quickly dashed as their country fell into a bloody insurgency. From 2004-2007, Iraq disintegrated around them while Acrassicauda struggled to stay together and stay alive, always refusing to let their heavy metal dreams die. Their story echoes the unspoken hopes of an entire generation of young Iraqis. To see more: www.http://www.heavymetalinbaghdad.com/

Cool dude. I'm 45, after a while and kids I felt the need to branch out, there's so much good stuff. I just discoved Davy Graham, the guitarist who influenced Bert Jansch who in turn inflluenced a young Jimmy Page. Incidentally my band supported The Ramones 8 times in '89, 12 with Iggy Pop in '90 and we played 2 gigs with RHCP's before Hillel died. I spoke to Henry Rollins once and he'd heard of my band too. Bring back URCHIN.

Oh yeah and you said they were more talented than my shit band, how can you say that when you haven't any knowledge of my band other than what's on YouTube. Maybe we should've dressed in spandex, had shit t-shirts and sung about the horned one.

Maybe one day you'll grow up. Incidentally, I've seen Led Zep, Iron maiden (Adrian Smith's original band URCHIN were far superior BTW) Sabbath, Judas Priest, Whitesnake, Rush, UFO, Angel Witch, (many other NWOBHM bands too! Oh yeah, Angelwitch rocked!) I walked out the only time I saw Iron Maiden, they were on the bill with Judas Priest (what a waste of an evening that was!) Motorhead (my ears are still ringing from 1978 Lyceum) Hawkwind (not loud enough!)
