CoZzMiX ::: Favorites 2007-11-15 16:50:14 Im from the UK. One thing that has been missed both in the film and the debate is that alongside the NHS there is also Private health care available and that even if you chose to go down the avenue of private health insurance the combined monthly cost of national insurance and private insurance is still cheaper than insurance premiums in the USA. Even so most people do not bother going private as the only real benefits are cue jumping and private rooms. __________________________________________________

CoZzMiX ::: Favorites 2007-11-15 16:30:59 I live in the UK and due to ill health have used the NHS on many occasions I have always been treated swiftly and with compassion. __________________________________________________
s2001t ::: Favorites 2007-09-16 17:39:29 I'm sorry, but I don't feel that your comment is correct. America is not the only country which studies, and makes cures for diseases. There have been many treatments, and medicines developed in other contries which do not have a capitalist based system. __________________________________________________
cecilbdml ::: Favorites 2007-09-16 03:03:15 Interesting how everyone here is talking about meds and procedures that have been developed in, and PAID FOR, by American private money. If that weren't available to you, your systems would all collapse. Sorry, but there isn't a country around that can show innovation and invention without the profit motive. __________________________________________________
ahungry ::: Favorites 2007-07-21 16:02:31 I'm an American living here in England permanently since 2000. Know the USA system very well, the UK system is fantastic and compassionate. My ADHD son gets his monthly meds free; his dr. sees me for as long as I want; her care is up-to-date and thorough. All dr. and hospital care is professional and complete. SICKO hopefully will change America. It needs it. __________________________________________________

bearsagainstevil ::: Favorites 2007-07-14 09:56:49 Im british and I could get a doctors appointment the same day , Ive had great medical care .yes Ive paid tax but I think its well worth it , free healthcare means people see the doctor earlier . It gets rid of the desperateness in society you know that your neighbour is getting medical treatment, you dont have lots of people being ruined because someone gets sick __________________________________________________
norhamdan1985 ::: Favorites 2007-07-13 04:17:39 Also, the people in our systems that complain and want privatized health care, are the people that never go to the hospitals ever, because they are stubborn. They are sick of paying high taxes, and they don't use our luxury. Its like paying for a parking spot you never use. Their argument is understandable, but you never know when you or your family will be hurt, plus EVERYONE gets old. Socialized is the way to go imo. It has its flaws, but its ahead of Privatized. __________________________________________________
norhamdan1985 ::: Favorites 2007-07-13 04:13:57 Americans will always say to me. You guys are so lucky you get free health care. First of all. It isn't free here, in France or in Britain. We pay a high tax for this luxury. We tend to complain about it, but everyone pays their taxes, and we all have to go to the hospitals sometimes so in the long run its worth it. I bet an american's health insurance bill every month is higher then what the govt docks off my pay cheques each month anyways. __________________________________________________
pzmcpz ::: Favorites 2007-07-09 09:21:03 I'm from Canada. I was asked by an American recently what the difference was in our respective medical systems. I replied that as a canadian I have never lied awake at night worried that illness would bankrupt me. __________________________________________________
s2001t ::: Favorites 2007-07-09 08:40:00 I have seen the film, and I posted this video to try to clear the air a little, and get a more balanced story. My intentions were to specifically target people that use a socialized system. Please state where you are from. __________________________________________________
chinsup ::: Favorites 2007-07-09 06:58:02 america has plenty of socialised systems as you said but there are essentials in someones life, such as education, police service, fireserivce, health care is one of these systems they are essential, if you watch the film youll find the poorest in britain live healthier then the richest in america. __________________________________________________
empiricalred ::: Favorites 2007-07-07 16:57:51 A well-funded socialised health-care system is the best all-round solution. That is what we have in the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, there are many individuals who want to see it fail and replaced by a wholly privatised system. For many years hospitals were underfunded and waiting times grew longer. People demanded that more funds be injected into the system and today it is returning to normal. You must always fight to keep the profiteers away, if you get my drift. __________________________________________________
s2001t ::: Favorites 2007-07-07 09:23:19 Good for her. I'm glad she was able to find a system that works! __________________________________________________ |
