winny87 ::: Favorites another observation from gen. 2:24: "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." in the case of adam, we see that his wife is eve (they are literally of the same flesh) and his father is god. this seems to suggest a mother as well. if we go further and accept that there is a holy mother, there is no reason to believe that there is not an entire cast of deities or other gods that are not mentioned in the bible. 07-01-07 04:25:52 __________________________________________________
DamNationDiplomat ::: Favorites That is in interesting interpretation, you're right, within the assumed metaphor the text suggests a fourth character (the mother) who is rarely mentioned if at all, i find the verse just before very interesting "this one shall be called woman for out of man this one was taken" implying more than just a symbiosis, but a literal reversal of the capability of birth from woman to man 07-01-07 04:42:55 __________________________________________________
winny87 ::: Favorites wow, thank you for looking into all of that. i did some digging and found a few ideas in response: the beginning of the gospel of john states that "the word", which is meant to indicate jesus, was around in the beginning. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." perhaps this could be used to explain the use of the plural in genesis? 07-01-07 04:23:07 __________________________________________________
