mdlmkr43 ::: Favorites thank you kimmern123. i know this was probably the last chance i'd have to see a S.S. come in (at least on this coast)but travel time from the SF valley+getting off work @11am woulda made it a stretch. dangit! anyways, thank you for the reply. 07-06-24 11:34:52 __________________________________________________
kirtekin ::: Favorites awfully!! 07-06-24 08:18:11 __________________________________________________
kimmern123 ::: Favorites It was just under an hour before the deorbit burn, about two hours before touchdown if I recall correctly. 07-06-23 19:22:44 __________________________________________________
mdlmkr43 ::: Favorites thanx 4 the vid. a little sumthin's been bugging me though. can anyone tell me just when the word was "official" about the EAFB landing yesterday. i know it wasn't exactly last "minute" but close anyway..obviously time enough 4 quite a few spectators to gather. if anyone knows, please post. much apprish. thank you. 07-06-23 13:11:45 __________________________________________________
globalpositioning ::: Favorites Yes, the gear is down that late because the shuttle is gliding and you do not want to waste any speed with the gear down. In a normal airplane, you have power to compensate and shuttle has no power to adjust. It is important to remind they glide from 10,000 feet in a very steep descend...always fascinating since they do not have a second chance or a go-around... 07-06-23 09:42:41 __________________________________________________
talallines ::: Favorites is it normal that the landing gear be put down that late?? 07-06-23 02:50:36 __________________________________________________
Rrxingrick ::: Favorites I watched the landing in person and man was it awsome! Don't get to to see it land at Edwards much anymore. Only thing different seemed to be the 2 sonic booms. From where we were at, they seemed to be very faint. Either way, it was amazing to see and I hope that NASA lands more space shuttles here at Edwards before they end the space shuttle program in 2010. 07-06-22 18:13:58 __________________________________________________
momo2007x ::: Favorites It's maybe some technical troubles on Nasa TV , I think. The sound overlay and repeating lasted more than you could hear on this vid, so I cut that part. Thanks. 07-06-22 16:41:50 __________________________________________________ |
