Even if they're 5-30min late?! my gosh.. Maybe it's being from New York where we like everthing done efficiently talking, but I'd be pissed if I had there was a 1min delay. I'm not saying NYC trains don't delay, but 30min?! my god.. I would sue them if that ever happened to me!

No - It was a North Shore Service during peak hour. It's EXTREMELY rare for a NS service to start from central.

Could have been that the train had terminated at Central, was then turned around to resume a new service around the City Circle, but the driver forgot the lights? That's plausible, and certainly forgivable. Anyone infallable? Hmm. We are allowed to stuff up, for not CityRail? For such an extensive rail network, CityRail has pretty average number of service faults. A mate in London says the trains are halted there when the "the wrong kinds of leaves are on the track". I kid you not!
